The Second Home Visa in Indonesia is officially announced

The Directorate General of Immigration at the Law and Human Rights Ministry has officially announced plans to introduce the Second Home Visa policy.

This policy refers to Circular Letter (SE) Number IMI-0740.GR.01.01 of 2022 concerning the Authorizing of Visas and Limited Stay Permits for Second Houses issued on Tuesday (25/10), as reported by Social Expat.

According to Acting Director General of Immigration Widodo Ekatjahjana, the second home visa scheme will accommodate foreign nationals, particularly the elderly, with a secure long-term stay in Indonesia.

What is A Second Home Visa?

The Second Home Visa is a permit that will allow foreign nationals to stay in Indonesia for 5 to 10 years.

It would appear at this time that although the registration can be applied manually online, it will still be mandatory to have sponsorship from a company in Indonesia.

Who are eligible to apply for Second Home Visa?

The Second Home Visa targets specific foreign nationals and ex-Indonesian citizens who wish to stay and contribute positively to the Indonesian economy.

What can I get from having Second Home Visa?

With this visa, you can stay for five or 10 years by carrying out various non-work activities such as investment, tourism, and others. You can access applications for a second home visa easily through a website-based application on visa-online.immigration.go.id. Please note that even though the visa has been announced it will not be available until December 2022. No applications can be made at this time.

The requirements to apply:

According to the Circular Letter, there are requirements to be fulfilled in order to apply for the Second Home Visa:

  •  Applicant must have a national passport that is valid and still valid for a minimum of 36 months
  • Applicant must attach proof of fund in the form of an account owned by a foreigner or guarantor with a value of at least Rp2 billion or equivalent
  • Applicant must attach recent colour photograph with a size of 4 cm x 6 cm against a white background
  • Applicant’s Curriculum Vitae

The non-tax state revenue (PNBP) rate for a Second Home Visa is Rp3 million, in accordance with the provisions in the Finance Minister Regulation Number 2 of 2022. This payment can be made outside of Indonesia through the non-tax state revenue payment portal available.

When will the Visa available?

The policy will be in effect 60 days after the circular was issued. Despite not yet to be released, the Second Home Visa scheme has offered vast amount of benefit in terms of providing longer permission to stay in Indonesia.
