Regulation Updates for Indonesia Tourist Visit Visa

Foreign nationals can apply for a Tourist Visit Visa and Pre-Investment Visit Visa on the website molina.immigration.go.id starting Thursday, 27th January 2023. The new regulations released to amend the Circular (Surat Edaran) for the new visa have been applied since 15 April 2022 under Circular Number Surat Edaran No. IMI-KU.01.03-0074

Previously, foreign tourists holding e-VOA had to come to the immigration office to apply for an extension. With this new service, foreign nationals are expected to be more comfortable enjoying their holiday time because they can process everything anywhere and anytime, just by smartphone and internet network.

What is Indonesia Visit Visa?

An Indonesia Visit Visa or Tourist Visit Visa, is a type of permit that can be used for visiting certain places for recreational purposes, personal development, or studying the uniqueness of tourist attractions within a certain period including health tourism and even yachting.

The applicant applies for a tourist visit visa by filling in the data fields correctly, uploading the required documents in full, making payments and getting a tourist visit visa electronically which is sent via registered email as an alternative to a tour visit visa can also be downloaded via the visa app.

Aside from Tourist Visit Visa, there is another new visa which allows business people to conduct market research before setting up business in Indonesia. Pre-Investment Visa grants foreign nationals ample time to stay for doing market research in Indonesia as well as completing pre-requisite documents for opening a business.

New feature to help to extend e VOA

Not only applying for a Visit Visa for Tourism, but foreigners can also extend their Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) through the Foreigner Traffic Module (Molina) website. The payment then can be made using a credit or debit card within the Visa, Mastercard or JCB network. That way, foreigners can complete their visa application in one process.

Do I require sponsors to apply for the new Indonesia Visit Visa e-application?

Visit Visas for Tourism and Pre-Investment can be applied for by foreigners without the need for a guarantor (sponsor). This service is prospected to encourage the growth of the tourism and investment sectors. Immigration makes it easy for global business people and world investors to review and study potential investments before they invest in Indonesia.

How to apply for an e – Tourist Visit Visa?

To apply for a Tourist Visit Visa, Pre-Investment Visit Visa or e-VOA, foreigners need to register an account at molina.immigration.go.id. After logging in, the applicant can fill in the form provided and upload the required documents. If all data has been confirmed and correct, the applicant can then complete the payment by following the guidelines provided on the website. Furthermore, the visa will be sent electronically to the foreigner’s E-Mail address.

The application will require you to provide documents as follow:

  • Travel documents with the following conditions. An applicant should prepare a passport valid for a minimum of 12 months for a single-entry visitor visa application with a validity period of 180 days and a passport valid for a minimum of six months for a single-entry visitor visa application with a validity period of 60 days
  • A proof of life expense for the applicant and/or their family while in Indonesian territory of at least 2,000 USD or equivalent
  • A return ticket or onward ticket to continue the trip to another country, except for the crew of means of transport which will stop over to join the ship and continue the journey to another country
  • Two copies of coloured photographs with a size of 4 cm x 6 cm

Some highlights about Indonesia Tourist Visit Visa

  • The new Tourist Visit Visa is effective for 60 days only. This visa is given to foreigners to travel to Indonesia on a one-trip visit and is given a stay permit for 60 (sixty) days from the time the entry permit is granted.
  • The new Tourist Visit Visa is non-extendable.
  • Foreign nationals can apply for a Visitor Visa for Tourism and Pre-Investment at molina.imigrasi.go.id starting on 27th January 2023.
  • Applicants would require no guarantor for this type of visa.
  • Foreigners can apply for a Visitor Visa for Tourism and Pre-Investment without requiring a sponsor or deposit money.
  • During the application, the applicants will be granted Pre-Investment Visa valid for 180 days.
