Global Citizenship of Indonesia (GCI) is an unlimited stay, multi-entry permanent residency permit specifically designed for foreign nationals with proven Indonesian heritage.
Introduced by the Directorate General of Immigration under the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (Imipas), GCI is Indonesia’s first true permanent residency framework, granting eligible applicants the right to live in Indonesia for life without repeated renewals or local sponsorship.
Lets Move Indonesia supports Indonesian diaspora and their families in understanding, preparing, and applying for this new category of residence permit.
GCI (Global Citizenship of Indonesia) is a lifetime stay permit (Izin Tinggal Tidak Terbatas) created for foreign nationals who can demonstrate genuine ties to Indonesia, including:
Unlike KITAS or KITAP, GCI has no expiry on stay rights, no sponsor requirement, and does not require applicants to renounce their current citizenship.
Why Indonesian diaspora and their descendants are now looking seriously at GCI
Core benefits include:
Although both GCI and KITAP offer long-term stay, their purposes and eligibility are different. GCI is lineage-based and diaspora-focused, while KITAP is typically given to long-term KITAS holders, foreign spouses, or specific investor categories.
