Indonesia and Azerbaijan Strengthen Ties with New Visa-Free for Diplomats

In commemoration of their 30-year diplomatic partnership, Indonesia and Azerbaijan have established a new agreement. The conclusion of this exciting development on 27th September 2024 is expected to have a substantial impact on enhancing cooperation and collaboration between Indonesia and Azerbaijan.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and the Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov, at the 79th UN General Assembly in New York officially signed the agreement. The minister expressed confidence that this would create a foundation for smoother diplomatic exchanges and foster stronger alliances between the two nations; as reported by kemlu.go.id.

Azerbaijan echoed this sentiment, highlighting Indonesia’s importance as a partner for Azerbaijan. He emphasised their desire to strengthen ties and work together on shared goals.  Both ministers also discussed increased collaboration in international forums, with Indonesia offering support for Azerbaijan’s upcoming leadership role in the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 29).

This visa waiver agreement marks a significant milestone in the relationship between Indonesia and Azerbaijan, opening doors for increased cooperation and mutual benefits.
