Design Trends 2016 Part 2

This week LetsMoveIndonesia gives you the second instalment to our popular post, Design Trends 2016! Every home owner needs to find the inner interior designer inside at some point; here are some ideas to make your home fabulous this year.

mud-room

9. Farmhouse entrance lobby. Tired of your children bringing mud and dirt through the house? Then installing a traditional farmhouse, mud room may help. Strip away the need for modern furnishings and embrace simplicity and functionality. A place designed for storage and practicality, with a rustic design that charms its way into your heart.

10. Bathrooms that have character. Bathrooms are so often overlooked and often focus on practicality. But, with so much time spent there, shouldn’t we start thinking about making these spaces stunning as well? This year, designers are unshackling themselves from traditional living and adding graphic wallpapers, soft furnishings, chandeliers and beautiful furniture to make these sterile places feel more like your home.

11. Kitchens embracing simplicity and rawness. “Less is More”, is a famous saying amongst designers, and now this is becoming a reality in some kitchens too. The uncomplicatedness of open shelving and usage of raw materials, allows for airy, fluid spaces that serve multi-functional usages.

powder-room

12. Characteristic powder rooms. Usually a small room under the stairs, neglected from attention or love, the traditional powder room is calling for attention nowadays. Introduce eye grabbing prints, different textures, extravagant lighting and custom graphics to make your under-utilized space something to be proud of.

13. Attention-seeking bedrooms. Painting a room can certainly spruce it up, but if you want to truly create something impressionable, you need to think bigger! You need more inspiring and creative ideas to take your home to a new level. You could try this industrial look, with miss matching furniture, a variety of textures and shapes, remove the symmetry, and allow yourself to be daring.

electric-fireplace

14. Fireplaces are making a comeback. Technological advances have allowed us to have fireplaces in the home, without the hassle, smell or pollution of their medieval ancestors. We can now have electronic or gas featured fireplaces which work at the flick of a switch. It is hard to create a better focal point than a large mesmerizing fireplace; so remove your TV and get something stunning, yet functional in your home now.

15. Turn clinical kitchens to trendy kitchens. With kitchens being a focal point of the house, it is important to make yours not only practical, but include individuality. Over the last decade, kitchens have got more and more clinical, which has led us to boring soul-less places. Make a statement and punch some colour back into your kitchen! Splash colour on a unit, a backsplash or even on a cabinet to stamp individuality on your home.

So there you have it, these are 15 of our top tips to help redesign your new home in 2016.
