Work KITAP (Work Visa Permanent Stay Permit) – Who is it for and what are the benefits

If you are a long term employee working with the same company using a consecutive Work KITAS then maybe it is time you should start considering a Work KITAP.

The Work KITAP (Work Permanent Stay Permit) is a product for foreign nationals that work in Indonesia and intend to continue employment for the foreseeable future.

The work KITAP is similar to the Work KITAS, which allows foreigners the opportunity to live, work an earn income in Indonesia, the only 2 difference are:

  1. Term validity: The Work KITAS is limited to 1 year, whereas the Work KITAP is for 5 years.
  2. You must obtain a KITAS first and hold the same sponsor for 4 years. Once you have the same sponsor (with no breaks) you can then opt to convert to a KITAP.

The benefits of possessing the KITAP are that the visa has a maximum validity of 5 years, meaning you no longer need to renew a visa annually. As you only process the visa 1 time, you also save on costs. Our Work KITAP customers save a fortune, as well as time converting their KITAS to KITAP!

Steps to get your Work KITAP

  1. Application of Work Permit
  2. Submit the Working KITAP application at the local immigration office
  3. Attend the Biometric and finger print session
  4. Process approval from Immigration Office, Directorate General of Immigration, and Regional Office of Ministry of Law and Human Rights
  5. KITAP completion with the E-KITAP along with multiple entry re-entry permit

Common Questions

If I change employer can I continue my KITAP?

Unfortunately, you cannot. Please note that the sponsor of the visa is the company hiring you, therefore if you change jobs, you cannot keep the same sponsor.

If I am an investor in a company, is the Work KITAP the right visa for me?

If you are a shareholder in a company and have shares equal or higher than 1,125,000,000 IDR then it may be more cost effective to apply for a Investor KITAS or Investor KITAP.

If I have a Work KITAP, can I obtain dependent visas for my spouse/children?

Yes, you most definitely can. Check out our page for everything you need to know about the Dependent KITAS.
