Visa on Arrival available across Indonesia for selected nationalities

On Wednesday 6th April 2022, fantastic news was released regarding foreign travellers being able to enter Indonesia using the Visa on arrival (VOA) at multiple entry points throughout Indonesia.

The official circular was released by SATGAS (The Covid 19 Task Force) and although they neglected to provide an English copy, we have translated the key points below for your convenience:

For those that are unaware, free travel to Indonesia has been banned since 2020 due to the Covid pandemic. During which time, borders have been closed to foreign travellers unless they had obtained a visa prior to travel.

Although this is great news, please note that the Visa on Arrival is still not completely free, but does allow foreign travellers to enter Indonesia without organising a visa prior to departure.

The VOA costs US$35 (500,000 IDR) and is payable to authorities upon arrival. The visa maximum validity is only 30 days, but can be extended by another 30 days. Please note that, whilst onshore, you are not permitted to apply for any other visa type.

At this time the Visa on Arrival is only applicable to 43 nationalities which can be seen below:

Travellers of the above 43 nationalities may now enter via any of the international ports of entry, as displayed below:

What to do if my nationality isn’t on the list?

If your nationality is not on the list, you will need to obtain a visa. If you are coming for Tourism you can apply for a Single Entry Tourist Visa, if you are visiting for business meetings, you may apply for a Single Entry Business Visa.
